Ashoka Lamp

Ashoka by Ettore Sottsass, named after the former emperor of the Mauryan Empire, presents itself as an unstable stacking of playful geometric shapes. Apparently “deconstructed”, this lamp is nevertheless expertly balanced, presenting a perfectly symmetrical assembly that rests on a solid rectangular base. An exuberant and irreverent masterpiece.
